In 2010 Down Council Chief Executive announced he was taking up a position with Belfast City Council.
In recognition of his ability to listen to community concerns and translate them in to real action Lecale Conservation made a presentation to him at his office at the old Council HQ on the Strangford Road.
John had supported our AONB campaign but most importantly had made time to look at our powerpoint presentation of seals crushed by 4×4’s and birds nests crushed by quads on Minerstown beach and supported us for years to get the bye-laws finally passed. (The struggle now continues to have them enforced in 2023!)
